Te Aitarakihi Story
Te Aitarakihi Society Incorporated (formerly Te Aitarakihi Trust) was established on 14 December 1990. It is the governing body responsible for Te Aitarakihi Marae-ā-Iwi, which is managed by a Board.
Te Aitarakihi Marae-ā-Iwi is a home for Mātāwaka that nurtures future generations and embraces all cultures within the realms of Te Ao Māori. With the vision to be the rope that binds all peoples, to uplift, promote and advocate through a kaupapa Māori lens, under a korowai of kindness and support.
Their goals are to increase the use and knowledge of Te Reo Māori in the community, increase the education and practice of Māori culture, encourage community engagement and support Whānau in the community.
Te Aitarakihi Marae-ā-Iwi offer several programmes and classes including Kapa Haka, Kāhui Rangatahi/Rangatahi programmes, Te Aitarakihi Māra Kai, and a place to connect.
