Waimate District Fund: Powered by You

Tucked between the rolling hills of South Canterbury and the rugged beauty of the Hunter Hills, the Waimate District is a place where rural pride runs deep. From the town of Waimate itself—famous for its heritage buildings, wallabies, and warm-hearted locals—to the surrounding farming communities, this district blends tradition, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.

Waimate’s economy is rooted in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry, with generations of families contributing to New Zealand’s food and fibre story. Its vibrant community spirit is reflected in local events, volunteer groups, and the care people show for one another. Yet, like many rural areas, Waimate faces challenges in sustaining growth and preserving its unique identity.

The Waimate District Fund is a long-term investment in the well-being of this proud region. It will support local projects—from upgrading community spaces and supporting youth initiatives to enhancing public amenities and celebrating local heritage. This fund is powered by generosity and designed to grow with the district, ensuring Waimate continues to thrive for generations to come.

The Waimate District Fund is a permanent endowment created to support the people and places of the Waimate District—now and for generations to come.

Formed through a partnership between the Waimate District Charitable Foundation and the Aoraki Foundation, this fund is built on a simple but powerful idea: local giving, local impact.

Every contribution—whether a donation today or a gift in your will—is invested and grown by the Aoraki Foundation. Each year, the income earned is distributed by the Waimate District Charitable Foundation to causes that matter most to our community. From grassroots initiatives to vital services, it’s local people deciding where the money goes, ensuring it reaches the heart of what makes Waimate special.

This is a smarter way to give: your gift keeps giving, forever.
