Meet Jacob – Our First Payroll Giver
If you’ve visited the ANZ Timaru branch, chances are you’ve been greeted by Jacob’s friendly smile. What you might not know is that Jacob has just become the Aoraki Foundation’s very first payroll giver—before we’ve even started promoting this way of giving!
Recently, we presented to the Commercial & Agri team at ANZ and left an Impact Report in their staff room. Not long after, we received an email from Jacob that touched us deeply. With his permission, we’d love to share it:
“I’ve been swatting up on the Aoraki Foundation in the ANZ smoko room and it sounds like my cup of tea. Can I make a contribution from my pay each week to the General Fund? I’ve recently begun investing, and I see gifting to the Aoraki Foundation as a way of investing in our community. I might not see the returns in my bank account, but I will see the returns outside in the main street.
I think giving once a fortnight is a great arrangement—especially for my generation, who often aren’t in a position to make substantial one-off donations. This is a way to give back while still keeping within our means.”
Jacob, thank you. Your generosity and community spirit are inspiring. You’ve shown us what it means to invest in the future of our region—not just financially, but with a huge heart.
